11th in this very closely fought class using an Axiom Motor.
In the 12th Hot Rod class where
cars are very evenly matched Ian was 2nd using the power Axiom
Synergy cells to their full advantage.

The 2nd year of the SCC has seen some excellent, close and very
fast touring car racing with Team Smart Racing featuring highly
at every round. Well done to Kevin and his pitman 'Derek' on
a superbly fast and ultra consistent championship win.
Smart Racing would like to thank the committee and membership
involved in preparing and running this excellent championship.
Round 7: Kevin Nicolson held TQ all day with Colin
qualifying 5th. The 'A' final first leg was won by Kevin Nicolson,
closely followed home by Kevin Falconer. Leg 2 saw technical
gremlins for Kevin and the first breakage of the year for Colin! Leg
3 saw the 2 Kevins racing closely at the front with Kevin Nicolson
finishing second to Kevin Falconer, which was enough for Kevin
Nicolson to win the meeting and the championship.
Round 6: Team Smart Racing qualified 2nd, 3rd
and 4th in round 6, and after some close fast racing at the
front of the field finished 2, 3 and 4.
Round 5: Qualifying on the pole for the A main
was Kevin Nicolson for Smart Racing with Colin 3rd and Stephen
5th, with the first 4 qualifying positions on the grid being
split by just 1.7seconds, this was looking good for some close
racing in the finals. Although extemely quick, Kevin was just
unlucky on the day not to catch a break and finished in 3rd,
with Colin 4th and Stephen 5th. After 5 rounds the championship
is led by Colin but dropped scores and missed rounds still have
a part of play in the championship.
Round 4: Qualifying for Round 4 went consistently
well with Colin and Stephen swapping 3rd and 4th positions,
ending up with Colin 3rd overall and Stephen qualifying 5th
overall. 'A' Final with some fast competitive racing going on
at the front of the field. Colin managed a 3rd and 2nd position
with Stephen taking a 3rd and 4th giving Colin and Stephen 3rd
and 4th positions overall.
Round 3: Team Smart Racing were again fast from the
start with Superpole qualifying positions of 1st, 2nd &
3rd, followed up with overall Qualifying positions of 1st 3rd
& 4th, CML Team driver Ian Willacy made it 4 Yokomo cars
in the top 5 qualifying slots. The 'A' Final overall positions
were 1st, 2nd & 4th after some close racing throughout.
At this stage the team are learning fast about the Yokomo chassis
& particularly about the excellent Team Scream Atlas 19t
motor which are not only torquey but rev well also, not only
are these motors quick they are also low maintenance.
Round 2: The team made its race debut at round 2 with
a brand new race package consisting of the popular Yokomo MR-4TC
BD powered by Team Scream motors with Novak GTX speedos. Having
only finished building the cars on the eve of the meeting &
with no free practice allowed at this series the first runs
were against the clock in Super Pole where after 2 rounds the
team were sitting 1st, 3rd & 9th overall, however more was
to follow with a 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in qualifying &
1st, 2nd & 3rd in each of the 3 legs of the 'A' final.
Keep Racing ! |
